It's sad that I felt very compelled to post something with this message, but I've been seeing this mentality around a lot lately. How sad is this? People will believe they are intellectually superior to you just because you believe in something they don't?
I don't agree with a lot of ideals, but I'm not going to call someone stupid for believing in them. I might be totally opposed to them, but guess what? People believe what they do for a reason, and it's not because it's convenient, out of fear, or anything like that. People have legitimate reasons. You don't have any religious or spiritual beliefs? Fine, I'm not going to pester you about it; that won't get us anywhere. I'm not making this stamp to cause a debate between ideologies; simply the way people present them.
I've seen religious people bash those who aren't, sure. But I have also seen those that will bash religious or spiritual beliefs back, but then get upset if someone bashes theirs. Seriously, just don't be self-righteous about your beliefs. That goes for anybody.
And please, stop trying to sound like you more about religion or spirituality than those who've spent years studying it and learning what it is truly all about. You get ticked when people try to sound like they know more about your beliefs than you, so don't return that same attitude. There are common misconceptions about beliefs on both ends.
Moral of the story? Don't be self-righteous about what you believe. Your beliefs don't have any bearing on your intelligence. Comments will probably be disabled eventually.
I've seen this kind of mentality around as well. Even though some acknowledge it, I doubt it will go away any time soon. I figure it's been around a very long time. Ever since anyone had different ways or beliefs it's probably been around. Which does seem rather sad, and I bet it does get annoying fast.
Oddly enough I've had one of my own friends do such a thing to me. Though this was very minor, and not as big as some of the things are. Funny thing was we're both the same religion, only my beliefs vary slightly so every now and then if that topic comes up I have to tread around it or have her try to bash my beliefs.

Turn and turn and turn again. You see the what but not the when. Remedy and wrong entwine, And so they form a single vine.
Thinking that religious or spiritual people are stupid also shows a very narrow, parochial progressivist viewpoint. So then Plato, Cicero, Boethius, Dante, Descartes, Isaac Newton, and many other of the great minds who shaped civilization were all stupid?

I refuse to judge any person by his or her race. That includes The Last Airbender actors.
I've seen it around a lot, but I suppose I finally wanted to say something about it, even if it is just a little stamp. It's been rather grating on my patience levels, which are low enough as it is.
I have that issue, though I'm usually too vehement about defending myself so I make myself out to be an ass. So my stamp is smacking me too. XD

In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
